Commonwealth Coast Football Athletes of the Week #3

Offensive Player of the Week

Alex Corvese, Curry (Sr., QB)

Curry quarterback Alex Corvese (Cranston, R.I.) had a four-score day as the Colonels ran away from Anna Maria and earned a 47-20 victory. The win moved Curry to 3-0 on the season. Two of Corvese’s touchdowns came in the air as he completed nine of 14 passes for 183 yards. The senior captain also added 91 rushing yards (50 coming on a single run) and two scores on the ground.


Defensive Player of the Week

Haiden Pereira, Salve Regina (Jr., DB)

Junior Haiden Pereira (Hopkinton, Mass.) and the Salve Regina defense held Dean scoreless in a 27-0 win on Saturday (Sept. 16). Pereira also contributed to the scoring with a 36-yard pick-six to go along with six solo tackles.


Offensive Rookie of the Week

Sean Amaru, Curry (Jr., RB)

Curry running back Sean Amaru (Westwood, Mass.) had a solid game on the ground as he contributed 89 yards and a touchdown in the Colonels’ 47-20 victory over Anna Maria. He rushed 13 times, averaging 6.8 yards per carry including a 47-yard touchdown dash in the first quarter.


Defensive Rookie of the Week

Dominique Brunson, Nichols (Fr., DB)

Freshman Dominique Brunson (Winter Haven, Fla.) had a few key firsts for Nichols this weekend. He collected his first collegiate interception in the second quarter, returning it for seven yards, before making it his first multi-pick game later in the period. His second interception halted a nine-play, 45-yard drive for Coast Guard. Brunson also had three tackles on the day.


Special Teams Player of the Week

Marc Mrozek, Curry (Jr., K)

Curry kicker Marc Mrozek (Stratford, Conn.) scored 11 points in the Colonels 47-20 victory over Anna Maria on Friday (Sept. 15). He was perfect on his two field goal attempts, converting from 37 and 32 yards. He also converted five of six extra-point tries. Mrozek also punted three times for a total of 136 yards (45.3 yards per punt) with his longest boot going for 54 yards.



Commonwealth Coast Football (CCC Football) is a single-sport football conference operating under the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) umbrella. The league has been in operation since 1965 (formerly as the New England Football Conference (NEFC)). The league currently consists of six members – Becker, Curry, Endicott, Nichols, Salve Regina, and Western New England. Membership will increase to seven in 2018 with the addition of the University of New England. Husson will join the conference in 2019.
