Player of the Week

Alyssa Stefanelli, Western New England (Jr., G/F)

Junior Alyssa Stefanelli (Chicopee, Mass.) recorded her first-career double-double in Western New England's season-opening win at Suffolk on Saturday (Nov. 10). She scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the contest. Fifteen of her 20 points came in the second half as the Golden Bears overcame a 13-point deficit. She was extremely efficient from the floor shooting 72.7 percent (8-for-11), including going 2-for-2 from beyond-the-arc.

Rookie of the Week

Amanda Leal, Curry (Fr., G)

Curry's Amanda Leal (Tyngsboro, Mass.) got her collegiate career off to an impressive start registering the first double-double of her career. She scored 22 points and grabbed 13 boards as the Colonels dropped their opener to Framingham State as part of the Curry College Tip-Off Tournament. She then scored six points and grabbed nine rebounds against Eastern Nazarene. For her efforts, Leal was named to the All-Tournament Team.

The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), founded in 1984, is an NCAA Division III athletic conference comprised of nine full member and one associate member institutions throughout the New England region. Its membership aims to provide student-athletes with a positive experience in their pursuit of excellence through high academic standards, quality competition, and a meaningful student life. The conference administers championships in 18 intercollegiate sports.
